Habaneros, founded by Omar and Dulce Lugo in 2014, is a cultural journey through Mexico, inspired by Mexico City’s rich food, culture, and history. Located in New Orleans, the restaurant aims to bring the essence of Mexico’s culinary and cultural heritage to North America.

Habaneros is a Mexican-inspired restaurant that blends the vibrant flavors of Mexico with fusions from across Latin America. It offers a Pan-Mexican dining experience, seamlessly combining urban street food with traditional dishes.

Habaneros' design experience is deeply influenced by the Anthropological Museum in Mexico City and the ancient city of Tenochtitlan. Every aspect of the restaurant reflects this heritage, blending the spirit of Mexico’s past with modern dining.

Central to Habaneros design is the reverence for Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent, a god of wind, learning, and duality in Mesoamerican culture. Drawing inspiration from obsidian and all it symbolizes, the restaurant pays homage to this revered stone and its deep cultural significance, closely linked to the god Quetzalcoatl. The restaurant also draws inspiration from Teotihuacan’s Sun and Moon Pyramids, symbolizing light, life, and the balance of existence.

At Habaneros, exceptional service and Mexican hospitality are paramount, creating an atmosphere that evokes the grandeur of Mexico’s ancient temples.
